PlaySpan SideKick w/ Square FAQ (Trainer's Use Only)

  1. How do I checkout with Square on the SideKick?

    1. First download the PlaySpan SideKick application.  Then login with your dotFIT IPN Trainer account.

  2. Do I need to create a Square account to use this?

    1. No, you do not need a Square account.  Square will automatically assign all sales transactions to dotFIT LLC account when using the SideKick Application with Square.

  3. What if I already have a Square account?  Will this get confused with my personal Square business account?

    1. When you are using the Square Reader with the SideKick application, only the dotFIT products can be in the shopping cart on the SideKick Application.  It will not ask you to login to Square. Your device will be authorized by Square Reader SDK and the account will be linked with dotFIT for all SideKick App transactions.  

  4. Where can I get a Square Magstripe Reader?

    1. You can order one here www.dotfit.com/square-elite or at your local stores that carry one.

  5. If I already have a Square Device can I connect it to the SideKick?

    1. Yes.  If you connect an existing Square Device to checkout with the SideKick Application. Please note the SideKick Application will link the transaction to dotFIT LLC.  You do not need an individual Square Business Account.

  6. Who will the sales transaction be made from?

    1. All sales transactions will be made from dotFIT LLC

  7. Does it only work with the Square Magstripe Reader?

    1. No, you can also use the Square Contactless and Chip Reader

  8. I have a newer iPhone with no audio jack, what do I do?

    1. Your iPhone should’ve come with an adapter to convert audio jack to Lightning. If you don’t have one, you should purchase one.

  9. Will the customer’s credit card be saved in the billing profile?  

    1. No, the customer’s credit card information will never be saved.  The entire transaction occurs directly on Square and is secure. A shipping profile is needed so that we know where to ship the products to.

  10. Will the customer get charged upon swipe?

    1. Upon swipe the total amount of the order will be ‘Authorized’ via Square.

    2. Upon shipment dotFIT will then “Settle” the order with Square and send the Shipment Confirmation to the customer.

  11. Can I enter in a billing profile and not use Square?

    1. Yes, you can still checkout using the SideKick App Billing Profile or the built-in Credit Card Scanner module.  You do not need to use Square.

  12. Will I get notifications of the customer’s order?

    1. Yes, upon successful completion of the order.  You as their Trainer will get a copy of what was ordered.

  13. Does Square work on the dotFIT.com website or only on the SideKick Application?

    1. At this time Square will only work when using the PlaySpan SideKick iOS and Android applications.  We are looking at this as an option.

  14. Does the customer’s credit card information get saved or stored anywhere on my phone?

    1. No.  The customer’s credit card data does not get saved or stored on the phone or on dotFIT’s servers.  The transaction is directly processed via Square Checkout. It’s as simple as checking out at the grocery store.
